Construction / Design-Build / Manufacturing About the Opportunity A fast-growing company in the construction and design space is looking for a Financial Controller to lead accounting and financial systems. In this role, you’ll help build a strong, scalable finance function, making sure project costs are accurate, reports are clear, and leaders have the financial insight they need. Key Responsibilities Oversee month-end close, financial reporting, and compliance with accuracy and timeliness Manage core accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll coordination, and the general ledger Lead the optimization and integration of financial systems, with a focus on job costing, project tracking, and ERP performance Develop and maintain budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow models to guide business planning and resource allocation Turn operational data into clear, actionable insights to improve financial processes and decision-making Build, mentor, and lead a small, high-performing accounting team Act as a strategic financial partner to senior leadership, delivering data that drives smart decisions Maintain accuracy and consistency in all aspects of project accounting and cost tracking Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred Exceptional analytical, communication, and team leadership skills 5+ years of experience leading accounting in a project-based or construction-related environment Deep knowledge of job costing, margin analysis, and financial systems integration Proficiency with ERP platforms Familiarity with project management tools is a plus Practical experience developing and maintaining dashboards in Power BI or similar tools What You’ll Gain Play a key role in shaping the financial foundation of a fast-growing, high-potential company Join a collaborative, high-trust culture that values transparency, autonomy, and shared goals Gain a strategic voice in decisions that drive growth, scalability, and long-term impact Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
