Controller DeSHAZO, LLC life insurance, vision insurance, paid holidays, short term disability, long term disability, 401(k) United States, Alabama, Bessemer 200 Kilsby Circle (Show on map) Jun 12, 2025 The Controller is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting for the DeSHAZO Crane, Service, and Automation groups. This candidate will be responsible for supervising the Assistant Controller, two office personnel, and four remote workers to ensure work is completed timely and accurately. This candidate will report directly to the CFO and have contact with office administrators and service managers at over twenty locations, manufacturing personnel at three locations, along with other management personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Have a solid understanding of financial reporting and GL structure
Ensure compliance with relevant GAAP accounting standards
Oversee the month end financial close process
Generate revenue accruals for in-process jobs for the Crane and Service group
Review operating P&Ls for reasonableness
Review month end job profit analyses for Crane and Service groups, review actual vs. estimated costs
Oversee the Crane Group billing process to make sure that jobs are billed timely and accurately, including pay applications and lien waivers if necessary
Oversee the month end account reconciliation process, including reconciling some accounts and reviewing other account reconciliations
Review customer AR balances and take appropriate action on past due balances
Oversee the year end external audit and work closely with external auditors
Assist with the implementation of a new vendor payments platform
Optimize the use of Deshazo’s document management system for efficient AP routing
Ensure compliance with local and state taxing authorities, business licenses, contractor’s licenses
Assist with integration of future newly acquired businesses
Implement process improvement projects to improve timeliness and reduce cost

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

BS/MS in accounting with a minimum 6 years of experience
CPA Preferred
Manufacturing/Service experience is preferred
Strong interpersonal communication skills, and strong organizational skills
Experience with Epicor ERP/Sage MAS 100 is desirable
Previous management experience within an office environment
Travel requirements: less than 5%
