Job Description

Description We are currently offering a unique contract-to-permanent employment opportunity for a Controller in Bessemer, AL. As a Controller, you will play a vital role in managing the accounting functions within the organization. You will be tasked with overseeing the Assistant Controller and as well as performing all controllership functions. This position offers flexibility and a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage all accounting functions within the organization
  • Guide hands-on financial operations while stepping back to analyze and optimize accounting processes.
  • Review the general ledger (GL) structure and departmental processes.
  • Supervise month-end close activities
  • Hands-on accounting expertise paired with strategic oversight capabilities.
  • Ability to lead large accounting teams while working collaboratively with supply chain operations.
  • Adaptable to fast-paced ERP implementation processes.
  • Monitor holding times to comply with 45-day net inventory use requirements.
  • Manage the Accounts Payable and Accounting Receivable, including the accurate and timely processing of invoices
  • Perform controllership functions, ensuring all financial operations are in compliance with financial policies and regulations
  • Monitor and review financial data, ensuring all records are accurate and up-to-date
  • Implement and maintain financial controls and procedures within the organization
  • Coordinate with other departments to streamline financial processes and improve operational efficiency
  • Handle financial inquiries and resolve any discrepancies promptly and professionally.

Requirements + Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, ideally at the senior level. + Strong understanding of supply chain, logistics, or distribution is advantageous. + Familiarity with MS Great Plains, Excel spreadsheets, SharePoint, and ERP systems + CPA certification is desired but not required.
