Director of Donor Services, Finance, and Stewardship 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 1200 West Montgomery Road, Tuskegee, AL 36088 Position Information Position Title Director of Donor Services, Finance, and Stewardship Status Full Time Job Summary The Director of Donor Services, Finance, and Stewardship plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of gift processing, financial reconciliation, stewardship, and donor fund management within the Division of Development and Alumni Engagement. This individual serves as the primary gift accountant and the lead liaison for all finance-related matters within the division. This role oversees financial systems that support fundraising and stewardship operations and provides detailed donor financial reporting to the Vice President, university leadership, and external stakeholders. The Director manages and supports the Donor Services Associates (formerly Gift Processors), ensuring compliance with internal and external financial standards, and guides the processing and reporting of all charitable contributions. Essential Job Duties Financial Operations and Gift Processing Serve as the division’s primary gift accountant, overseeing daily gift entry, batch controls, deposits, and reconciliation processes. Ensure accuracy in fund allocation and donor intent across all incoming gifts, including cash, securities, online gifts, and estate distributions. Coordinate daily and monthly reconciliations with the Division of Finance to ensure audit-ready accounting. Develop and maintain an accurate chart of accounts and ensure all fund transfers comply with IRS, CASE, and FASB regulations. Donor Services Oversight Supervise and support Donor Services Associates (formerly Gift Processors). Provide training, develop workflow documentation, and implement internal controls for consistent, timely, and compliant gift processing. Manage donor acknowledgment systems and resolve donor-related inquiries in collaboration with development staff. Fund Reporting and Stewardship Prepare regular donor fund reports for stewardship and provide financial updates to internal and external stakeholders. Support the Vice President in producing donor fund performance and impact summaries for university leadership, donors, and foundations. Assist in the creation and management of gift agreements and account setup for new scholarships, endowments, and restricted funds. Collaborate with frontline fundraisers and the communications team to support stewardship deliverables, including reports, letters, and acknowledgments. System Management and Compliance Oversee data integrity in financial systems and CRM tools such as Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge. Ensure compliance with all applicable university policies and external financial reporting standards. Participate in audits and ensure division-wide preparedness for financial reviews. Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training) Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. At least 3 years of experience in gift accounting, financial operations, or nonprofit finance. Experience with Ellucian, Financial Edge, or Raiser’s Edge. Familiarity with donor databases and scholarship/endowment administration. Physical Demands Ability to operate standard office equipment Ability to walk short distances Ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items Ability to view a computer terminal Skills and Attributes Knowledge Strong understanding of charitable giving, donor stewardship, and fund accounting principles.
