HAPPI HEALTH

is a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike (FQHC LAL) dedicated to providing accessible, high-quality, elite and compassionate healthcare to underserved populations. Our commitment to community health and equity guides everything we do. We are currently seeking a Controller to join our finance team. This position plays a critical leadership role in the financial stewardship of our organization, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, optimizing financial systems, and supporting strategic initiatives that advance our mission. Position Summary The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, and grant compliance. The ideal candidate has prior experience in healthcare or nonprofit finance, and a solid understanding of FQHC regulations and Uniform Guidance compliance. Key Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations. Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and FQHC requirements. Manage and monitor grant funding, including tracking expenditures, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with HRSA and other federal guidelines. Lead the preparation of the annual operating budget in collaboration with department heads. Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard organizational assets. Coordinate external audits and cost reporting (e.g., Medicaid/Medicare cost reports, UDS, HRSA reports). Analyze financial performance and make recommendations for improvement. Assist in developing financial policies and procedures consistent with regulatory requirements. Supervise accounting staff and support their professional development. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or CPA preferred). Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting/financial management experience, preferably in a healthcare, nonprofit, or FQHC setting. Strong knowledge of GAAP, Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), and FQHC regulatory frameworks. Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems).
