Controller Position Available In Mobile, Alabama

Fit Recruiting is seeking a skilled, dynamic Controller to lead the financial operations of a growing local business. This position manages accounting functions, oversees payroll operations, ensures regulatory compliance, supports client billing processes, and delivers insightful financial analysis to drive strategic business decisions. This is a critical leadership role for a hands-on professional who thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. Salary is up to $120K depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, payroll, and bank reconciliations for multiple books of business Supervise client invoicing and ensure accurate, timely billing Manage payroll cycles, tax withholdings, and related compliance for a large, distributed workforce Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes and produce accurate financial statements Develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections; analyze variances and prepare management reports Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including tax filings, workers’ compensation, and industry-specific labor regulations Strengthen internal controls and streamline accounting policies and procedures Coordinate external audits and manage relationships with auditors, banks, and insurance providers

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field CPA certification (preferred) 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role Strong knowledge of GAAP, payroll processing, client billing, and compliance reporting Proficiency with accounting systems (such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms) Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work in a deadline-driven, high-volume environment
