Assistant Controller Position Summary:
We’re currently seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Assistant Controller to join our dynamic team and help drive financial excellence in our growing organization. The Assistant Controller plays a key role in all aspects of financial operations, supporting the Controller and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist with the month-end closing process, including account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and accrual preparation. Prepare and analyze project cost reports, identifying variances and cost overruns. Assist in the preparation of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) according to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) for the civil construction industry. Assist in external audits, providing necessary documentation and support to auditors. Assist with budgeting and forecasting, providing financial data and analysis to support informed business decisions. Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller. Prepare monthly sales tax returns for multiple states Help provide financial training to project team members Help analyze, improve and develop financial reporting tools for accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field. Minimum 2-4 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the construction industry. Bookkeeping Experience Strong understanding of GAAP and construction accounting principles. Proficient in ERP software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and Adobe. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
