The Controller is responsible for overseeing the global accounting and financial reporting operations of Westrock. Key responsibilities include managing the accounting department, coordinating the financial close and consolidation processes, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, preparing financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP, coordinating with external auditors, maintaining an effective internal controls over financial reporting environment, supporting the timely filing of SEC reports, and integration of all corporate initiatives. The Controller will lead a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. The Controller should be adept at problem solving and cross-function coordination, able to address process-manufacturing, accounting, and technical challenges. Additionally, the Controller will assist in the budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis of the Company, providing strategic insights to support executive decision-making. Effective communication with C-suite level individuals is crucial for the Controller. This includes presenting financial data in a clear and concise manner, translating complex financial concepts into actionable insights, and engaging in strategic discussions that align with the Company’s goals. The Controller is expected to build strong relationships with executives to foster trust and ensure that financial perspectives are integrated into broader business decisions. The Controller reports to the Chief Accounting Officer of Westrock.
Job Duties:
Responsible for the monthly closing, system maintenance and integrity of the General Ledger and its integration with the Company’s consolidation software. Responsible in enforcing and monitoring of compliance with company-wide accounting policies and procedures. Communicate effectively and build strong relationships throughout the organization, including, but not limited to, ad-hoc training to business partners on accounting matters. Review and assist in preparation of account reconciliations for the Company’s accounts. Responsible for the accumulation of support and analysis for the financial and tax audits Collaborate with other accounting professionals to align accounting policies across the organization. Assist in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley. Performs other duties as assigned.
