Controller Salary Range:
$120,000
- $140,000 Per Year We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented and proficient controller to oversee all financial and accounting activities for our growing $50 million dollar a year commercial construction company.
The controller will lead the accounting team, implement strong financial controls, ensure accurate reporting, and provide strategic guidance to support business growth and profitability. The ideal candidate is an accounting and financial expert with deep experience as a professional or high officer, and a familiarity in construction or project-based industries is a plus. Key Responsibilities of the Controller include (but are not limited to):
Accounting Operations:
- Manage daily accounting operations with 3-person staff including A/R, A/P, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings.
- Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure consistent accounting practices.
- Ensure accuracy in job costing and project accounting
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements.
- Prepare monthly Work In Progress reports for large jobs
- Manage external audits and liaise with CPA, tax advisors, and ESOP administrators
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
- Monitor cash flow, forecasting, bank reconciliations, and capital requirements.
Strategic Leadership:
- Provide financial analysis and business insights to support strategic decisions.
- Partner with operations and project managers to track budgets, change orders, profitability, and performance bonuses
- Evaluate and improve internal controls, accounting systems, procedures, and accounting system training Team Management
- Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff.
- Develop KPIs and performance metrics for the finance team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
- Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in construction or project-based industries.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and financial controls.
- Experience with Jonas Construction Software or similar ERP systems.
- Proficient in Excel and financial modeling.
- Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Key Characteristics of the Controller

Pay for performance bonuses paid quarterly (based on the profitability of the company); target annual bonus is $5,000.00 per year Vacation and Holiday
