Job Description

Veterans PreferenceGeneral Description:

Mid-Florida Materials, a division of Hubbard Construction Company, operates multiple facilities in Central Florida specializing in roll-off services, landfill disposal, and recycling. As our fastest-growing division, we are seeking a Controller to join our team. The company offers competitive salary and a great benefits package. This position will be vital to the organization, involving collaboration with executive leaders and managing all financial operations of the division. Reporting is to the Corporate Finance and Controlling Manager with respect to the Area Manager.

Key Duties:

The Division Controller will oversee the analysis of the division’s financial performance, including budget forecasting, managing financial reporting, conducting audits and assessments, compliance with industry regulations, evaluating workforce productivity, and implementing strategies to enhance operational processes

  • Directs and supervises administrative and accounting staff to ensure adherence to GAAP, Reliable internal controls, and compliance to Company policies and procedures
  • Ensures accurate and timely month-end and year-end accounting close processes, manages allocation methodologies and general accounting activities
  • Prepares monthly financial reports, including analyzing budget vs. actual results and reviewing them with area and senior management
  • Supports the creation and presentation of quarterly budget spreadsheets, annual phased budget forecasts, and reports analyzing budget variances
  • Conducts weekly accounts receivable (AR) meetings and leads special projects as needed
  • Assists the Corporate team in addressing both internal and external financial audit requests
  • Prepares monthly sales tax filings while maintaining adherence to applicable state and local tax regulations
  • Assesses franchise agreements, manages franchise fee reporting, and ensures the accurate tracking and timely renewal of agreements to maintain compliance and keep records up to date
  • Oversees the credit-granting process for both potential and existing customers by evaluating credit reports, analyzing data to determine creditworthiness, and presenting recommendations to Area Manager for informed decision-making
  • Maintains integrity and confidentiality of all sensitive data to uphold trust and compliance
  • Fosters teamwork and strong communication both within the division and across all company departments to ensure alignment and productivity
  • Other duties as assigned.
Authorities:

The Division Controller holds full authority to execute their responsibilities. However, they are required to consult with the appropriate Manager in the following scenarios

  • Issues that may impact the company’s interests
  • Potential threats of litigation or situations that could result in legal actions
  • Instances of non-compliance with reporting obligations to regulatory authorities
  • Deviations from standard operating proceduresRequirements and Skills
  • SAP and/or Industry Waste Software Experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, with intermediate expertise in Excel
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills
