Full Job Description Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the financial operations of our growing multi-location equipment dealership. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, strategic insight, and accounting expertise to oversee day-to-day financial functions and manage a staff accountant. This is a hands-on position based in our Fort Myers office, responsible for financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and team development.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead accounting operations including general ledger, A/R, A/P, payroll, and tax filings. Supervise and support the staff bookkeeping, payroll, and document management functions. Prepare monthly financial statements, manage cash flow, and bank reconciliations. Implement and enforce internal controls and accounting procedures across all dealership locations. Assist with audits, year-end closings, and tax filings. Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial planning reports. File sales tax returns, lender compliance reports, and maintain inventory controls Monitor and maintain dealer licenses and business registrations for multiple locations. Work closely with management team for financial planning and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required). Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or Controller role. Strong experience in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Knowledge of dealership or equipment industry financials is a plus. Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Strong analytical thinking with the ability to solve complex financial problems.
Supervises:
Bookkeeper – responsible for daily bookkeeping, A/R and A/P, payroll processing, and record keeping.
