Full-time Role Description:
We are looking for a qualified and strategic Financial Controller to join our leadership team and oversee the financial operations of a dynamic and growing logistics company with global reach. This role will be pivotal in managing and optimizing TransCargo’s financial health while supporting the scalability of our transportation and logistics services. As Financial Controller, you will ensure sound financial planning, compliance, analysis, and reporting that aligns with our company’s strategic goals in the renewable energy logistics space. You will work closely with leadership across operations, warehousing, and freight brokerage to build efficient financial systems and practices that fuel growth.
Key Responsibilities:
???? Financial Reporting & Control Prepare and coordinate the development of complete financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in accordance with
U.S. GAAP.
Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including variance analysis and KPIs. Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes. Maintain accounting records, ledgers, and supporting documentation in compliance with federal and state regulations. ???? Strategic Financial Planning & Growth Support Lead annual budget planning, forecasting, and long-term financial modeling aligned with company goals. Analyze operational and project-based profitability (e.g., freight lanes, warehousing operations, project-based margins). Provide actionable financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making and capital allocation. ???? Cash Flow & Risk Management Oversee cash flow projections and working capital optimization to support project execution and reduce financing risks. Monitor exposure to liquidity, currency, and credit risks; implement hedging or mitigation strategies where necessary. Build strong relationships with banks, insurance providers, and external financial institutions. ?? Process Optimization & Systems Development Identify, implement, and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and operational procedures across departments. Guide the implementation of scalable financial systems and ERP integration as the business grows. Leverage technology to streamline financial reporting, billing, and project costing. ???? Regulatory Compliance & Audit Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local tax, audit, and financial reporting requirements. Coordinate with external auditors and oversee timely completion of annual audits and tax filings. ???? Team Leadership & Development Lead and mentor a finance team of 3-4 professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and performance. Provide cross-departmental financial training to improve operational budget ownership and data-driven decision-making. ???? Additional Responsibilities Perform ad hoc financial and operational analysis as required by leadership. Contribute to M&A analysis, investor reporting, or capital raise preparation as needed. ? What You Bring to the
Role:
University degree in economics, business administration, finance, or related field. A minimum of 8 years’ experience in Finance & Controlling; logistics, transportation, or supply chain experience highly preferred. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, FASB, and IFRS accounting standards. Proven experience working with U.S.-based companies and regulatory environments. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish . Hands-on expertise in QuickBooks , Excel, and ideally ERP platforms. Demonstrated leadership experience managing high-performing finance teams. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with a strategic mindset. Experience with financial analysis related to large capital projects, especially in renewable energy or infrastructure sectors, is a plus.
