Position Title Assistant Vice President, Finance and Accounting Operations Job Type Staff FT/PT Full-Time Employee Class Description A4-Administrative Staff, Senior General Position Description This position provides leadership and administrative responsibility for all aspects of financial reporting, compliance, and accounting operations within the Foundation and the College. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate preparation and review of financial reports. Brings subject matter expertise to related areas and adheres to federal, state, and institutional regulations.

  • $169,716 Essential Job Functions Description of Job Function 1.

Provides leadership and oversight of the Foundation’s accounting and finance processes, conducting analysis to identify opportunities for improvement. Provides data-driven recommendations to increase efficiency and optimize resource allocation Description of Job Function 2. Develops and directly manages the relationship for the Foundation’s Outsourced Chief Investment Officer as well as accounting services consultants. Description of Job Function 3. Prepares and presents financial reports in compliance with the Florida Department of Education requirements, including, but not limited to, the Foundation’s Finance & Audit Committee, as well as the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Description of Job Function 4. Partners with the Chief Philanthropy Officer and Executive Director of the Foundation to design operational and financial practices that ensure efficient and effective operations. Description of Job Function 5. Monitors the college’s financial and accounting performance and prepares financial reports and presentations at various levels in the organization, including senior leadership and the District Board of Trustees. Description of Job Function 6. Oversees the reconciliation process of college health insurance deductions and prepares the necessary reports and materials for submission. Description of Job Function 7. Oversees accounts receivable activities, including third-party billing contract management, processing of student and institutional invoices for internal programs and partnership agreements. Description of Job Function 8. Collaborates in the design of departmental related policies and procedures by evaluating and identifying financial and accounting operation risks in compliance with state and federal requirements. Description of Job Function 9. Leads the preparation and review of financial transaction record requests, as well as chart of accounts, to prevent erroneous financial transactions. Ensures information is updated on financial websites. Description of Job Function 10. Oversees and provides guidance for the fiscal year end closing checklist process. Description of Job Function 11. Leads assigned staff, including conducting performance reviews, as well as providing guidance and support. Description of Job Function 12. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Drivers License Requirement Drivers License Requirement Not Applicable Required Qualifications Required Minimum Education Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution, or any equivalent combination of related education, training, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions. Required Field of Study Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Other Required Qualifications Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in a finance or accounting position, including managerial/supervisory experience as well as experience with budgeting, financial planning, procurement, finance operations, and/or related areas/fields. Required License/Certification Preferred Qualifications Preferred Education & Field of Study Master’s degree Preferred Type of Experience Experience managing and overseeing audits and financial reporting. Preferred Licenses/Certification CPA or similar professional designation. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of non-profit/foundation operations and investment services. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards (GASB, FASB, etc.). Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections. Strong leadership skills and technical expertise to ensure the accurate preparation, review, and financial reports presentation. Ability to maintain respectful and positive relationships with State, Federal, and Institutional colleagues. Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions. Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to effectively communicate interpersonally, orally, and in writing. Working Conditions General Working Conditions This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds.
