The Controller plans, directs, and coordinates accounting operational functions for the company. Using effective communication, technology, analytical, and management skills, the person in this role manages staff and facilitates the provision of information about company business and activities to assist management and other stakeholders in making sound economic decisions. The Controller must be knowledgeable in all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The person in this role may perform other duties as required or assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Plans, directs, and coordinates all accounting operational functions. 2. Manages the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results. 3. Oversees accurate and timely dissemination of financial reports; coordinates and prepares internal and external financial statements. 4. Coordinates activities of external auditors. 5. Provides information vital to the decision-making process to management. 6. Manages the budget process. 7. Assesses current accounting operations, as well as accounting and internal control systems, and offers recommendations for improvement and implementation of new processes. 8. Evaluates the effectiveness of accounting software as needed. 9. Develops and monitors business performance metrics. 10. Oversees regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance. 11. Responsible for the management of department staff, including interviewing, hiring, and training. 12. Oversees all disbursements, accounts payable, purchase orders, expense reports, cash control, tax compliance, etc. 13. Oversees all aspects of accounts receivable. 14. Assures corporate income tax compliance for accuracy and timely completion of returns. 15. Oversees all aspects of payroll, including filing and payment of payroll taxes. 16. Establishes and maintains systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data. 17. Responds as assigned with accurate and timely information to facilitate the work of the CFO. 18. Participates in a wide variety of special projects. 19. Assures compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures. 20. May perform other duties or special projects as require or assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Expert level of knowledge, and ability to implement, all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Highly skilled abilities in financial management and associated computer programs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively oversee and manage staff, including completion of compliance requirements and adherence to the Code of Conduct. Ability to communicate professionally and succinctly with internal and external customers at all levels, including leadership and other senior stakeholders, adjusting for optimal understanding as needed. Ability to multi-task and successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously. Ability to exhibit self-motivation and drive results. Knowledge of accepted business analysis practices and organizational standards, and the ability to use this knowledge in the performance of all job duties.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an office environment. Work may be demanding at times and requires some flexibility in working hours. Must be able to work efficiently under high pressure and effectively resolve conflicts/issues as they arise. Work requires adhering to strict deadlines. Some travel may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work requires sitting for long periods of time. Frequent standing and walking is required, as well as some bending and stooping. Lifting of 10 pounds required, with occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Requires typing skills and sufficient manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier, and such other office equipment as necessary. Normal vision required, with or without corrective lenses. Normal hearing is required.
