Position Overview:
We are a rapidly expanding biotech company headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida. As our operations continue to grow, we seek an experienced and highly skilled Controller to oversee and strengthen our financial management functions. The Controller will be responsible for the oversight of accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and compliance activities. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), exceptional leadership capabilities, and a strategic mindset to support the organization’s financial health and future growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all accounting operations, including the maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets. Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and management reports in accordance with GAAP. Maintain accurate and up-to-date shareholder records Manage the coordination and distribution of dividend payments to shareholders in accordance with board approvals and legal requirements. Oversee the establishment and maintenance of inventory management systems and cost accounting processes, including inventory valuation, COGS sold analysis, and periodic inventory audits. Establish, implement, and monitor internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial information and safeguard company assets. Prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts; perform variance analysis and provide insightful reporting to senior management. Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, banking institutions, and regulatory bodies. Oversee tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes. Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function. Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting and finance team.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA designation is strongly preferred. A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least two (2) years in a Controller or Assistant Controller capacity. Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards. Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills; experience with [specific systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage] is advantageous. Proven leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Prior experience in a high-growth or entrepreneurial environment is preferred.
