Supports the Chief Financial Officer and the accounting department in carrying out the financial activities of the organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors

RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the timely completion of the full cycle of month-end and year-end close activities for portfolio of 110+ multifamily communities. This includes income statement, balance sheet and cash account reconciliations; reviewing all financials and reconciliations ensuring accurate reporting. Effectively communicate with Communities, Regional Management and Investment Management regarding financial statements and cash management. Have a comprehensive technical and functional understanding of all accounting processes (i.e. AR, AP, bank reconciliations, cash management, payroll, general ledger, financial statement preparation and review). Assist in developing, documenting, and communicating accounting policies and procedures. Identify and implement process improvements where applicable. Extensive audit review to ensure timely delivery of audit reports. Participate in the preparation and review of the annual budgets, working with operations personnel. Oversee the performance management of accounting staff. . Manage the hiring, training, development and workload of accounting team staff. Special projects and other functions as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, MBA in

Finance or Economics Experience:

7-10 years of experience in general Accounting, with strong organizational skills

Skills and Certifications :

Must have previous financial and GL accounting experience. Audit experience is required. Residential multifamily rental real estate accounting experience required. 7-10 or more years of supervisory experience required. Demonstrated proficiency with accounting systems, report writers, and online banking applications required. Timberline experience a plus. Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office Programs. Strong organizational skills. Effective communicator; ability to communicate at all levels. Exceptional attention to detail. Excellent problem solving skills.

enjoys training and coaching others, promotes a learning environment. Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks. Must have the ability to adapt to various accounting programs. Demonstrates consistency in values, principles and work ethic.
