CONTROLLER
We are an established, privately held meal prep company who delivers nationwide. Our Headquarters are in Boca Raton, FL. We are looking for an experienced, full-time Controller to join our team. The role is hybrid.
Salary range:
$101k – $120k DOE.
Summary of Position:
The Controller will lead the company’s accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of GAAP, high work ethic, ability to work independently, and able to interact with all levels of staff, from Cook to CEO. The Controller will manage a Staff Accountant. The Controller will report to the Chief Financial Officer.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Timely and accurate booking of revenue, accruals, inventory, payroll, and journal entries as needed. Review and approve financial transactions, including journal entries, reconciliations, weekly A/P runs, bank transfers. Review financial trends; Investigate and resolve discrepancies/irregularities. Prepare financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, statement cash flows) ensuring compliance with GAAP. Manage the weekly payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate payment to employees. Provide support and guidance to other accounting team members. File sales/use tax monthly; 1099s annually. Interact with Operations leadership and provide direction on cost accounting, KPI reporting, and expense management. Collaborate with external CPA on tax returns, audit/review, TPP filing. Manage insurance; prepare documents for premium audit. Other accounting projects as necessary.
Requirements:
B.S. Accounting or higher; CPA a plus but not required. 10+ years’ experience; CPG industry a plus but not required. Demonstrated knowledge of revenue recognition, accruals, inventory, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, depreciation, and other related accounting and financial matters. Strong knowledge of GAAP required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational skills; attention to detail. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Demonstrates the ability to work independently. Ability to manage staff. Intermediate level Excel, QuickBooks, and other software. Shopify experience a plus. Flexible work from home options available.
