SUMMARY:
The Controller is responsible for a broad spectrum of accounting functions and business practices that relate to the financial integrity of the District Office and its multiple operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Nothing in this job description restricts management’s rights to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at this time) Establish practices and procedures that ensure accurate financial data and reporting for all business operations and will maintain, update and retain all records in a secure manner Make daily bank deposits, transfer funds between banks, reconcile statements and post transactions to journals, ledgers and other documents Prepare all purchase orders, provide them to the Chief Executive Officer for signature with back-up material and/or explanations and maintain a log of orders for future reference Review accounts payable invoices, compare to purchase orders, prepare checks for signatures and remit payment in a timely manner Provide financial data needed for various grant applications and submit documentation “packages” to funding agencies with reimbursement requests Assist Department Heads with the preparation of Annual Budgets, provide them with monthly statements, comparing month-to-month, year-to-date actuals versus budget Prepare annual renewal applications for property, casualty and financial lines of insurance Prepare special reports, documents, and records as needed for each Department Prepare monthly Financial Statements for the Finance Committee and Board Provide all information required for the Annual Audit Attend mandatory staff meetings of the Chief Executive Officer Actively participate in the PQI System Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Finance Committee, the Board and/or the Chief Financial Officer

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
(Pending on position and if prior to hire is approved by Chief Executive Officer, a comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum education qualifications) Master’s degree or public accounting background, CPA with minimum 10 years of financial management experience, preferably with non-profit background and experience in dealing with funding agencies The position also requires computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and other accounting software products such as Quick Books
GENERAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
: These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. WORK ENVIRONMENT
: Environment will occasionally become noisy due to equipment operations and interactions among clients and staff. There may be the possibility of being exposed to communicable disease, possible exposure to verbal abuse or similar behavior from residents/clients. On an as needed basis, employees may be called upon to work outside of the established work schedule, or work odd hours. All information associated with the Agency is confidential.
