St. Johns River State College seeks a qualified and experienced individual to serve as the Controller within the Office of Finance and Administration. The Controller provides strategic leadership and oversight for the College’s accounting and financial operations, including general accounting, grants, student accounts, payroll, and cashiering. Duties and Responsibilities:
This is a full-time, 12-month administrative position responsible for leading the College’s financial operations. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leadership and Oversight:
Supervise and manage staff in accounts payable/receivable, general and grants accounting, student accounting, payroll, and cashiering. Oversee the daily operations of the Business Office under the direction of the CFO. Serve as acting lead on financial matters in the absence of the CFO.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
Prepare and present internal monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports. Lead the development of the College’s Annual Financial Report and present findings to the Board of Trustees. Ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, and state and federal financial reporting requirements. Coordinate audits and serve as the primary contact for financial audit inquiries. Oversee the preparation and timely distribution of tax forms (e.g., 1098-T, 1099, W-2).
Systems Management and Innovation:
Maintain and enhance the Banner Financial Accounting System. Work with IT staff to implement upgrades, troubleshoot issues, and ensure integration of third-party systems (e.g., cashiering, student accounting). Draft procedures, provide training, and offer technical guidance to promote efficiency and compliance.
Budget and Cash Management:
Assist in developing the annual operating budget and related financial forecasts. Manage College-wide cash flow, investments, and budget request systems. Ensure timely reconciliation of accounts including bank accounts, grants, and receivables.
College Service:
Participate in College-wide planning, assessment, and accreditation efforts. Collaborate with departments such as Student Affairs and Financial Aid to ensure proper budget and expenditure monitoring. Lead or participate in college initiatives as assigned by the CFO or President.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, and financial statement preparation. Demonstrated experience in team leadership and financial management.
Preferred Qualifications:
