Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Assistant Controller works with the Director of Accounting to manage the accounting functions and processes within the Finance Department. This position manages Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Time and Billing functions and is responsible for regular review of a variety of financial information and transactions. The Assistant Controller will report to the Director of Accounting. The firm has one available position in either Austin, TX; Atlanta; GA; or Dover, OH. Some positions at Novogradac may be open to remote or hybrid work arrangements depending on business needs. Please discuss available options with your recruiter.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day functions (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Time and Billing) of the Finance Department and ensure timeliness and accuracy of work performed Responsible for direct management of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Time and Billing staff Oversee monthly and annual closing processes Manage accuracy of client transactions in the accounting system Monitor workflow and quality of work, provide feedback and set-up training plans for staff Evaluate, implement, and streamline policies and procedures Forecast and track cash flow weekly Complete cash transactions: post check deposit, initiate ACH transfers, process checks, monitor bank transactions Review journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis Manage record keeping and reconciliation of Marketing Department deposits, refunds, and credits Additional ad hoc duties and projects as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Display strong analytical skills, including the ability to gather information, conduct analyses, present findings, and create solutions Sound understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structure Superior organizational and follow-through skills, performing work accurately with strong attention to detail Ability to meet deadlines and effectively prioritize a fast-paced and varied workload, effectively manage a variety of concurrent and shifting priorities Strong computer skills, including solid skill in the Microsoft Office suite, in particular with Excel, as well as experience using accounting software systems Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong leadership and management skills
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance plus 5-7 years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience, including staff supervision, and/or appropriate balance of education and work experience. Compensation:
