Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Augusta, Georgia. This is a long-term contract position that offers the opportunity to work with a large foundation and contribute to financial operations that support philanthropic initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in non-profit fund accounting and a strong ability to manage audits, budgets, and financial systems.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the fiscal year-end audit process, ensuring timely completion and compliance with all regulations.
- Coordinate and process accounting activities related to foundation funds, philanthropic grants, and gift transactions.
- Supervise a team that includes accounting managers, fund coordinators, and administrative support staff.
- Perform detailed financial analysis and reporting for real estate corporations and non-profit organizations.
- Manage lease agreements and software service contracts, ensuring proper accounting treatment and compliance.
- Review and update accounting records for tax-exempt bond issues and other financial obligations.
- Utilize Blackbaud and QuickBooks software to maintain accurate financial records and streamline accounting processes.
- Develop and oversee budget processes to ensure alignment with organizational goals and funding requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards, particularly those relevant to non-profit organizations.
- Provide guidance and support for ongoing philanthropic funding initiatives and related financial activities. Requirements
- Proven experience in accounting and financial management within a non-profit organization.
- Strong knowledge of fund accounting principles and foundation grants.
- Proficiency in Blackbaud and QuickBooks software.
- Demonstrated expertise in auditing and accounts receivable (AR) processes.
- Solid understanding of budget development and financial reporting.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with lease agreements and tax-exempt bond accounting.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills to manage multiple audits and financial projects effectively.
