Role:

The Controller will manage daily financial operations, supervise two direct reports, and work closely with the President of the company. This hands-on position is responsible for financial reporting, payroll reporting, internal controls, and supporting company leadership with financial analysis and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and coordinate all financial activities and accounting personnel. Manage all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. Standardize and maintain a system of accounting records, policies, procedures, and techniques. Oversee payroll reporting activities, including multi-state payroll and tax reporting, ensuring accurate integration with the general ledger. Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Manage the month-end and year-end close processes. Conduct internal audits to assess financial status and ensure data integrity. Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and coordinate audit activities. Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analysis. Analyze financial data and provide management with recommendations for operational improvements. Manage banking, insurance, and vendor relationships. Supervise and develop two direct reports within the accounting department.

Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. 3-5 years of relevant accounting or financial management experience. Previous experience in accounting management or similar leadership roles. Familiarity with multi-state payroll and tax reporting requirements. Fundamental knowledge of GAAP and financial compliance standards. Strong leadership qualities and the ability to mentor and develop a small accounting team. Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). Background check required prior to hire.
