$133K – $171K a year 8 hours ago Qualifications GAAP Senior level Full Job Description The Director of Finance is a strategic and hands-on leader who oversees all aspects of Aspire’s financial operations. This role is responsible for ensuring sound fiscal management, compliance, and sustainability across the organization. The Director of Finance works closely with the Executive Director and in partnership with the Leadership Team to provide proactive, mission-aligned financial guidance and oversight. This role manages the preparation and delivery of monthly financial reports, oversees the organization’s budgeting and audit processes, manages payroll, ensures compliance with funder and regulatory requirements, and supports long-term financial planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Management Provide fiscal leadership aligned with Aspire’s mission and long-term strategic goals. Work collaboratively with the Executive Director and Leadership Team to align budget planning with programmatic priorities. Develop multi-year financial forecasts and scenario models to support strategic decision-making. Financial Reporting and Budgeting Prepare and present accurate, timely monthly financial reports to the Executive Director. Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department leaders to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Monitor budget-to-actual performance and recommend adjustments as needed. Grants, Contracts, and Compliance Track and report on funding sources, ensuring proper allocation, invoicing, and compliance with federal, state, and private grant requirements. Ensure that financial practices follow GAAP and nonprofit regulatory requirements. Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and documentation. Payroll and Financial Operations Manage and process bi-weekly payroll in compliance with applicable laws and internal policies. Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and cash flow management. Ensure strong internal controls and operational efficiencies across financial processes. Audit and Risk Oversight Coordinate annual financial audits and serve as primary liaison with external auditors. Review and update fiscal policies and procedures in line with best practices and risk mitigation strategies. Maintain appropriate insurance coverage and oversee compliance with risk management policies. Team Leadership and Collaboration Supervise finance staff or external vendors supporting accounting, payroll, and fiscal operations. Partner with program leaders to build financial literacy and ownership of departmental budgets. Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and collaboration across the organization.
