Summary:

This position is responsible for the oversight and management of the daily activities of the Accounting staff in a fast paced environment. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: Oversee the operations of the accounting department including leading and training the accounting staff. Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts. Manage all accounting operations including Bank reconciliation, Billing, A/R, A/P, G/L, Inventory/Cost Accounting and Revenue Recognition. Manage month-end closing and prepare monthly financial statements and other operation reports for the plant. Analyze variances and communicate explanations to management with recommended actions. Must work across all levels of the company to achieve plant objectives. Collaborates with General Manager, Plant accountants and senior management to explain results, make improvements, manage projects, identify inefficiencies, understand operations and lead the development of complex analysis. Monitor and implement plant internal controls (in conjunction with corporate policies) as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets, and identify risks. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and with multiple state sales tax filings. Prepare information as required for the annual financial audit. Prepare all G/L account reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner. Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment while remaining organized and professional. Develop all accounting policies and procedures consistent with GAAP and other accounting guidance

Qualification and Experience:

B.A degree in Accounting required. Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible accounting experience with 4 years in a supervisory role, or equivalent experience. Manufacturing experience preferred. Advanced working knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

How many years of experience do you have in a supervisory or management role within an accounting department? Are you proficient in managing accounting functions such as A/P, A/R, G/L, billing, bank reconciliation, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition? How familiar are you with preparing monthly financial statements and operational reports? Do you have experience leading or participating in the budgeting and forecasting process? Are you experienced in using accounting software and advanced Excel functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data validation)? Have you worked with internal controls and compliance procedures (including sales tax filing and audit prep)?
