Job Location Accounting Job Summary:
The Controller will be responsible for managing the organization’s accounting functions, financial reporting, as well as supporting the financial health and sustainability of the organization. This position supervises the Accounting team and oversees Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Banking, Grant Accounting, Lease Accounting, Fixed Assets, and General Ledger Activities. Job Description Essential Functions Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including the annual budget, monthly financial reports, and year-end audits. Prepare journal entries and reconciliations, ensuring that financial records are complete and accurate. Review the journal entries and reconciliations prepared by the Accounting team, ensuring they are complete and accurate. Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, including accounts payable , accounts receivable banking, fixed assets and general ledger. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, contracts, and accounting standards. Provides organizational support activities in the evaluation, development and implementation of operational internal controls to ensure transactional processing systems are properly controlled to ensure data integrity, completeness and timeliness. Lead the annual audit process, single audit, and 990 preparation. Prepare support and ensure audit deadlines are adhered to. Support the annual budgeting process. Responsible for coordinating renewals and support for audits for the non-benefit insurances of the organization, including general liability, auto insurance, property insurance, workers comp, and flood insurances. Oversee annual personal property tax filings, property tax filings, 1099 preparations. Oversee monthly sales tax filing. Supervision of the Accounting Department Staff. Manage and maintain accounting policies and procedures. Assist departments with special projects as requested and other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications Required Skills:
Education Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required. Experience Five to ten years experience in accounting in similar position is required. CPA and supervisory experience required. Knowledge and Skills Must have a strong knowledge of GAAP. Must have high moral standards. Must have a great work ethic. Certifications and Licenses Must be bondable. Preferred Education / Experience / Knowledge & Skills / Certifications & License Prefer Master’s Degree. Prefer non-profit and grant accounting experience. Experience with Sage Intacct preferred. Experience with Single Audit preferred. Experience with Workday/Adaptive budgeting preferred.
