Accounting Assistant Controller needed in Philadelphia, MS. $125 – $135K. The general purpose of the Assistant Controller is to assist with corporate accounting and internal reporting. The Assistant Controller reports directly to the Controller.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
Five or more years of accounting and financial processes experience (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.).
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
Experience with financial statement preparation for all types of entities.
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end process close.
Understanding of data analysis and forecasting.
Detail-orientation and problem-solving ability are required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and ability to learn employer accounting software required.
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with other employees.
Mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, ratios, division, and percentages.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of laws, legal codes, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists with management of all accounting operations including Billing, A/P, A/R.
Assist employees in performing all aspects of corporate accounting, financial statements, receivable and payable billing, inventory and asset management.
Responsible for training and cross-training in multiple areas in the Accounting Department and for timely and accurately prepared monthly financial statements.
Coordinates and assists with the preparation for regulatory reporting including annual and periodic audits. Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Supports month-end and year-end close process.
Ensures quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
Develops and documents business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Oversees bank reconciliations are completed and the processing of sales tax returns.
Supports the Controller in the preparation of budgets or forecasts.
Assists with gathering information for year-end financial reporting.
Responsible for understanding the paperwork for the process of selling and leasing mats.
Responsible for understanding the paperwork for process of selling of poles and invoicing.
Oversee special projects and other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is primarily a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, both in face-to-face conversations and telephone conversations. The employee is sometimes required to stand, walk; and use hands to handle or feel. Ability to work with a computer (including operating a mouse and keyboard) up to 8 hours daily.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The designated workspace for this position is on the second floor of a building without elevator or escalator facilities. Most of the work is performed in an open office setting and requires attention to detail despite frequent interruptions and ambient office sounds (office machines, coworker conversations, etc.). The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, calculators, filing cabinets, fax machines, and other office equipment.
