POSITION SUMMARY
The Controller will oversee the accounting department and ensure the Bank’s general ledger is accurate and in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Ensure the timely completion of all financial, tax and regulatory reports. Oversee and coordinate efforts for all key controls over financial reporting as required under FDICIA. Work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and provide assistance on various projects, as needed.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES GAAP
Compliance Monthly / Quarterly / year end close Prepare annual audited financial statements Prepare monthly board reports Regulatory reporting (Call report, FR-6, FRY9SP) – primary reviewer (may also prepare) Tax compliance Key point of contact for third party external audit, internal audit and tax consultants Oversight and management of key controls over financial reporting (bankwide) Oversee and review GL reconciliation Consolidations Business Combination Accounting (when applicable) CECL Model Assist CFO on various projects as needed (budgeting, projections, asset-liability management, other) Policy review and updates to accounting related policies Budgeting / variance analysis Accounting research
EDUCATION
Minimum – Bachelors Degree in Accounting, CPA highly preferred
RELATED EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years experience working in community banking industry as controller (or equivalent) or public accounting with a financial institution focus.
