About the Company A growing construction company based in the Southeast is seeking a Controller to lead financial operations for its vertical construction division. The business delivers complex, high-quality construction projects and continues to expand its portfolio across the region. This role will play a key part in overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, job costing, and project funding activities.
Key Responsibilities Financial Oversight:
Lead all accounting functions related to vertical construction operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting
Team Leadership:
Manage and support accounting personnel responsible for AP, bank draws, and project financial tracking
Bank Draw Management:
Prepare and coordinate construction loan draws, working closely with lenders and project stakeholders
Accounts Payable Oversight:
Supervise AP processes including vendor compliance, coding, reconciliations, and timely payments
Project Financials:
Maintain accurate job costing and WIP schedules, tracking budget-to-actual performance across multiple construction projects
System Utilization:
Utilize Home Front and Sage 300 (CRE) for job cost management, financial reporting, and process optimization
Controls & Compliance:
Implement and maintain strong internal controls, ensuring compliance with financial standards and audit readiness
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Oversee preparation of project and departmental budgets, cash flow forecasts, and variance analysis
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with project managers, development teams, vendors, and executive leadership to align financial and operational goals
Process Improvement:
Continuously assess and enhance financial workflows to support efficiency, accuracy, and scalability Qualifications 7+ years of accounting experience, ideally within construction, engineering, or related industries Deep knowledge of job costing, WIP, and construction loan processes Hands-on experience with Home Front and Sage 300 CRE is required Proven ability to manage AP, financial reporting, and internal controls in a project-driven environment Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred) Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to lead cross-functional collaboration Why Apply?
