President Position Summary:

The Director of Finance will oversee all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for a growing homebuilding organization. This strategic leader will provide data-driven insights to support key decisions related to land acquisition, construction operations, and home sales. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of residential construction cycles, revenue recognition, and job costing in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the budgeting and forecasting process across departments, including construction, development, sales, and marketing. Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and industry-specific practices. Monitor cash flow and working capital needs, including draw schedules, vendor payments, and buyer deposits. Develop and analyze financial models for new land development opportunities, community expansion, and lot acquisition. Partner with construction and operations teams to evaluate project cost controls and profitability per unit or subdivision. Manage accounting functions including AP/AR, general ledger, job cost accounting, and fixed asset management. Coordinate and oversee external audits, tax filings, and banking relationships. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and requirements. Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred. 8+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within the homebuilding or construction industry. Deep knowledge of cost accounting, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion revenue models. Experience with homebuilding ERP software (e.g., CRE, BuilderTREND, MarkSystems, or similar). Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills. Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with construction, development, sales, and executive leadership.

$125,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
