Job Description:
We are currently seeking an Assistant Controller for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Charlotte, NC. This position will report directly to the Director of Accounting and CFO, playing a key leadership role within the accounting team. The successful candidate will be hands-on with daily accounting operations, provide financial insights, and contribute to company-wide initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate recording of financial transactions. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including variance analysis and trend reporting. Support strategic decision-making by developing and enhancing management reporting tools. Mentor and guide accounting team members, focusing on their professional development and skill-building. Establish and maintain consistent accounting policies and internal controls. Assist with special projects and company-wide initiatives as needed. Provide audit and tax support through accurate preparation and documentation. Contribute to continuous process improvements and operational efficiencies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree and/or CPA designation preferred. Minimum of 8 years of professional accounting experience. Background in manufacturing or distribution environments is highly advantageous. Previous leadership experience managing accounting teams and non-exempt staff members. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central strongly preferred). Excellent communication and documentation skills. Ability to exercise sound judgment, collaborate with teams, and drive initiatives independently. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to continuous learning and high-quality execution.
