Summary of Position:
The Assistant Controller is responsible forall aspects of the accounting and financial control functions. This position reports directly to the Controller and supports day-to-day accounting operations for all departments and divisions nationwide.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Work closely with executive leadership on evaluation of strategic and operating initiatives. Document and evaluate effectiveness and efficiency of operations through financial and management analyses and reports. Review and meet the timelines inthe quarterly and monthly financial closing schedule. Develop, implement, and ensure the adherenceto corporate policies and procedures. Reconcile and analyze various company bookkeeping functions, such as, general ledges, account payables/receivable, andetc. Ensure accuracy of entries. Manage organizational cash flow and review and ensure all job cost budget revisions. Compare the business plan or forecast to actual results for the division. Manage budget preparation and prepare monthly budget variance analysis. Supervise, train, and mentor Construction Controllers, Property Management Controller, and other accounting team members.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s in Accountingor related field is required. MBA is preferred. CPA is preferred. Minimum of10 years with a strong accounting/financial background in public company and/or multifamily or construction industry. Knowledge of JD Edwards, Sage/Timberline and TimberScana plus. Excellent analytical and Excel skills. Be a proven team player and leader that can work quickly, accurately, and independently in a fast-pacedenvironment with all levels of management. Ability to maintaina high levelof confidentiality. Attention to detail with abilityto learn quickly. Strong communicationand supervisory skills. Strong prioritization skills while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Physical Requirements:
This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the Assistant Controller to have the ability to operatecomputer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs.
