Accentuate Staffing is seeking an Assistant Controller for ourwell-established, family friendly client in Raleigh, NC 27603. Theideal candidate will have Construction or Manufacturing Industryexperience or looking to transition from Public to PrivateIndustry. Reporting to the corporate Controller, this role is agreat opportunity to grow and learn and will provide exposure tovirtually all aspects of the accounting department. There isopportunity for advancement to controller as the assistantcontroller proves capable and takes on more responsibilities. Therole will also involve overseeing and reviewing the work of otheraccounting team members.
Responsibilities:
Review/approve weeklyA/P invoices. Review/approve Wires/ACHs/Manual Check payments.
Review/approve office supplies orders. Research and advise onvarious tax matters including income, payroll, S&U, businessproperty, etc. Assist with preparation of various governmentalfilings (SAM renewal, government census, etc.) Assist withmaintaining owner/lender notes payable and amortization schedules.
Assisting with “directing traffic” of one-off questions/inquiriesfrom those outside of Accounting to the appropriate Accountingperson. Assist with special and ad hoc accounting and financeprojects when requested. Collaborate with Controller to develop,record, and implement departmental policies and procedures, ensurecompliance, and adjust as needed.
Lead year-end financial reportingprocess:
providing requested documents to, and answering inquiriesfrom, external CPA firm and updating financial statement footnotes.
Assist with preparation annual corporate budget (combined andindividual cost centers) Assist with preparation of annual laborburden calculation. Assist with producing monthly/quarterly/yearlyinternal financial statements. Assist with quarterly review ofgeneral ledger. Assist with projected cost reviews. Assist withanswering pre-qualification questions from Estimating. Assist withevaluating various software or other products/services to improvethe accounting department’s processing efficiency. Assist withpreparing/posting/reviewing various journal entries to the GeneralLedger Assist with ESOP compliance, reporting, communications, etc.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or relatedfield Construction Industry experience desired Minimum of 2 yearsof public accounting experience or 3 years in private industry, andmust already be functioning as a Senior Accountant. Intermediate toadvanced Excel skills (must be proficient in VLOOKUP and PivotTables). Excellent written and verbal communication skills andadvanced organizational skills. Employ problem-solving skills andanalysis and bring solutions to the Controller/CFO. A positive teamplayer with initiative to take on additional job responsibilities.
Advanced organization and attention-to-detail skills. Ability towork under pressure and possess high-level multi-tasking skills.
Ability to work well with others under deadline situations andrespond to changes in priorities. Ability to interpret and handlelarge amounts of data. Familiarity with creating and using databasequeries a plus. Familiar with accounting processes and procedureswith an eye toward efficiency.
