Accounting The Business Unit Controller reports directly to the President and will oversee an accounting staff of five. In addition, this role will support other functional areas of the business, including but not limited to: Insurance and Risk Management, Project Management, Human Resources and Operations.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Coaches, mentors, evaluates, and manages accounting and administrative employees. Ensures compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures, internal controls and in accordance with US GAAP Manages the close process to ensure timely monthly and year-end closes including the preparation of financial statements. Strong working knowledge of percentage completion accounting and monthly WIP reconciliation. Coordinates timely, accurate and streamlined operations of A/R, A/P and Payroll functions. Partners with the President and Corporate management regarding the company’s financial performance. Partners with General Managers on day-to-day operations, forecasting and general accounting practices primarily construction industry related focused on project accounting. Maintains fixed asset accounting software and manages capital expenditures. Manages and maintains all supporting schedules for balance sheet and expense account reconciliations. Manages Internal and External audits and provides all necessary supporting documentation. Assist with benefit administration and other HR tasks. Manage H-2B program. Performs other duties as required, occasional local travel required.
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. 10 years of relevant experience. Must have strong leadership skills and operate with a sense of urgency, organization, and diligence. Experience with multiple general ledger/ERP software packages. The ability to plan, execute, and analyze an overall financial strategy. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to pick up different software. Ability to perform in a demanding environment and juggle multiple projects. Team player and with strong interpersonal skills.
