Job Description

CPA Controller Accounting & Reporting Own and manage the full accounting cycle; responsible for accurate, GAAP-compliant financials. Lead the monthly close process, reducing the timeline to within 5 business days. Manage daily and monthly borrowing base reporting and covenant compliance for the company’s lender. Prepare monthly internal management reports and dashboards, including budget-to-actual tracking. Develop improved reporting (margin analysis, profitability by product/customer, inventory KPIs).

Friday Location:

Edison, NJ Cash Management Own and maintain the company’s 13-week cash flow model. Forecast cash needs and liquidity. Approve payments and manage vendor relationships in coordination with the Accounts Payable team. Interface with lenders on all cash flow and BBC discussions. Inventory & Cost Accounting Lead monthly reconciliation of inventory between Dell Data ERP and QuickBooks. Ensure accurate inventory evaluation under average cost method. Implement strong controls around inventory transactions. Monitor and report excess/slow-moving inventory monthly or quarterly. Process Improvement & Controls Design and implement structured daily accounting processes (invoice booking, reconciliations, cut-offs). Implement controls and best practices for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, inventory, and month-end closing. Mentor and develop accounting staff (currently 3 A/P and 2 A/R employees). Oversee and improve budgeting and forecasting processes.

Required Qualifications:

CPA required. 7-10 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a distribution environment. Proven experience working with lenders and managing cash flow in a dynamic environment. Strong knowledge of inventory and cost accounting. Excellent analytical skills – ability to analyze margins, trends, and drivers of profitability. Proven success in building and leading accounting processes and teams. Ability to partner with and influence cross-functional teams.

Able to lead change in a company that is building new financial discipline. Comfortable representing the company to external parties (CPA, lenders, consultants).
