Opportunity:

Our client—a dynamic, private equity-backed company in the consumer products space—is seeking an experienced Controller to lead and elevate the accounting function during a pivotal period of transformation and growth. This is a high-impact role reporting directly to the CFO and is ideal for a hands-on financial leader who thrives in fast-paced, change-driven environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead all aspects of the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory accounting, and fixed assets
• Partner closely with operations, supply chain, and FP&A to drive visibility into financial performance
• Manage and mentor a small accounting team, setting performance expectations and developing talent
• Prepare financial statements, internal reporting packages, and ad hoc financial analysis for executive leadership
• Support the annual budgeting and external audit processes
• Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
• Lead ERP optimization and system improvements; prior experience with BlueCherry ERP strongly preferred
• Collaborate on initiatives tied to cost control, working capital efficiency, and margin improvement
• Play a key role in supporting board reporting and private equity stakeholder communications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or MBA preferred but not required)
• Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership in a Controller or Assistant Controller role
• Prior experience in the apparel, fashion, or consumer products industry is required
• Strong command of GAAP and internal controls
• Proven success navigating the financial complexities of a PE-backed or growth-stage business
• ERP experience required; BlueCherry ERP experience strongly preferred
• Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills
• Comfortable in a roll-up-your-sleeves environment with a high sense of ownership

Work Environment:

This is a primarily onsite role in Totowa, NJ, with some flexibility for hybrid work. The role requires an engaged, visible leader who can collaborate cross-functionally and drive financial excellence from the inside out.
