Job Description
Director of Strategic Initiatives & Finance Operations
A private equity-backed, high-growth B2B services and technology business headquartered in New York is seeking a Director of Strategic Initiatives & Finance Operations. This individual will work closely with the President and executive team to drive financial strategy, cross-functional alignment, and M&A integration across a scaling organization. Reporting directly to the President, this highly visible role will lead initiatives that align company-wide execution with strategic objectives, provide analytical insights to support decision-making, and manage value creation through acquisitions and post-close optimization.
This position is ideal for someone with strong FP&A and operational finance acumen who thrives in fast-paced, PE-backed environments and is ultimately aiming to grow into a CFO role over time.
Location
The company is based in New York, and the ideal candidate is located there as well.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the company’s strategic planning efforts, ensuring alignment and coordination across the senior leadership team to drive clear priorities and sound decision-making.
Take ownership of key phases of the M&A process, including due diligence, financial modeling, and post-close integration, to ensure both operational efficiency and cultural alignment.
Act as a strategic finance advisor to executive leadership, applying analytical rigor and financial insight to address organizational challenges and guide change initiatives.
Collaborate with the President, CEO, and Board to design and execute strategic initiatives that fuel scalable growth, enhance operational effectiveness, and improve profitability.
Continuously evaluate and refine financial processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and board reporting, with a focus on scalability and best-in-class practices.
Qualifications
7+ years of progressive experience in corporate strategy, finance, FP&A, or business operations; a background in investment banking or management consulting is a strong plus.
Advanced Excel skills and deep expertise in financial modeling and data analysis.
Direct involvement in M&A transactions, particularly in execution and integration stages, even if not originating deals.
Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional projects and driving transformation across diverse teams.
Familiarity with executive-level and board-facing reporting, including KPIs and performance management frameworks.
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree in finance, economics, or a related field strongly preferred.
A self-starter with intellectual curiosity, excellent executive communication abilities, and a proven ability to thrive in high-paced, high-accountability environments.
