Finance team responsible for the oversight and strategic management of the organization’s cash, investments, banking relationships, and related financial compliance processes. Reporting to the CFO, the Director will lead the evaluation of our banking relationships, ensure sufficient liquidity, and support strategic growth across a multi-entity charter school network. The Director, Treasury is a hybrid role based out of the
KIPP NYC
Shared Services Team (SST) office in Midtown Manhattan and requires 3-4 days in person with occasional travel to schools and programs in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Brooklyn. Duties and Responsibilities, but not limited to: Cash and Liquidity Management Oversee daily cash positioning and ensure timely and accurate fund transfers across schools and business units
Manage short-term and long-term investment strategies in accordance with board-approved policies
Ensure timely and accurate bank reconciliations across all accounts and entities
Manage the reconciliation of due to/due from asset and liability balances across all entities, ensuring intercompany balances are accurate, supported, and settled appropriately
Monitor and improve internal controls over cash operations, disbursements, and reconciliations Cash Flow Forecasting Develop and maintain detailed rolling cash flow forecasts on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis
Analyze variances and trends to support proactive financial planning
Collaborate with Budgeting and Accounting teams to align forecasts with budget projections and funding cycles
Provide scenario modeling to inform strategic decisions and contingency planning Banking and Financial Relationships Manage all corporate banking activities and serve as the primary liaison with financial institutions
Maintain optimal bank account structures and oversee banking platform administration
Implement treasury systems to improve automation, reporting, and security
Evaluate our existing banking relationships and portfolio and identify opportunities to enhance our treasury function with external partners.
Identify new banking options within and outside of our current banking institutions and make recommendations to senior leadership regarding our treasury partnerships
Project manage any and all banking transitions within our existing banks and/or with new banking institutions Strategic Leadership and Team Collaboration Provide financial insight and recommendations to executive leadership to support strategic initiatives
Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Budgeting, Operations, and Development teams Compliance Calendar and Deliverables Oversight Own and manage the Finance and Accounting team’s compliance calendar, ensuring timely execution of key deliverables, including:
Audit and financial statement preparation timelines
Grant and donor reporting obligations
Tax filings and state regulatory submissions
Authorizer, state and federal reports
Coordinate task ownership, due dates, and progress tracking across teams
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, Master’s degree or MBA preferred. Minimum 5 years of progressive treasury or finance experience, preferably in nonprofit, education, or public sector environments
Strong expertise in cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, treasury operations, and reconciliation processes
Experience with bank reconciliations and intercompany due to/due from account management
Skilled in treasury platforms, ERP systems, Excel modeling, and data analytics
Excellent organizational, analytical, and leadership skills with strong attention to deadlines and detail
Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic environment
Demonstrated success with building trusting and responsive relationships by adjusting communication to diverse audiences, engaging proactively—especially in challenging situations
Drives results by using data to guide decisions, effectively managing time and priorities across multiple projects, adapting to shifting needs, and regularly reflecting on progress to ensure alignment with goals.

offers a competitive salary ranging from $115 to $135,000. Salary ranges at
KIPP NYC
are standardized based on role level and role function. Individual salaries are determined through a lens of equity, accounting for years of experience relevant to the role and scope of responsibilities, and are benchmarked against others within the same salary band.
