Vice President of Finance

Salary Range:

$164,000 – $190,000 annually, depending on experience. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the credit union’s mission, vision, values, growth objectives, and regulatory framework. Lead the preparation and analysis of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports; communicate key insights and trends to the Board of Directors and Executive Team. Oversee all accounting functions, including but not limited to general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, and monthly close processes. Manage the credit union’s Asset/Liability Management (ALM) function, including interest rate risk analysis and liquidity planning. Ensure compliance with all applicable NCUA, state, and federal regulations and coordinate with internal and external auditors. Provide leadership in evaluating strategic initiatives such as branch expansion, technology investments, and member service enhancements. Maintain strong banking and vendor relationships to optimize financing and operational support. Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing finance and accounting team. Support the Board of Directors with timely, transparent, and accurate financial reporting. Timely and effective communication with employees to assure positive and clear understanding of credit union goals and direction. Collaborate with credit union leadership to ensure appropriate allocation of resources and effective execution of business and financial decisions. Ensures uniform systems for accounting and budgetary purposes. Coordinates accounting activities of the credit union with other departments/branches as necessary. Prepare, implement, supervise and effectively communicate annual budget and monthly variance reporting with appropriate stakeholders. Provide financial discipline and business decision support to evaluate strategic business opportunities. Proactively identifies continuous improvement and cost optimization opportunities across the credit union and works with others to implement said improvements. Prepares and monitors quarterly ALM analysis. Participates as a member of Asset-Liability Management committee and assist in establishing and implementing credit union goals and objectives. Oversees the management, analysis and execution of the credit unions’ investments and loan sale/participation transactions in compliance with regulatory, ALM, Concentration Risk, Liquidity and Investment policies and goals/limits. Recommends and/or implements and oversees efforts to improve ROA performance. Identify necessary policies and procedures and develop, enhance implement and enforce policies and procedures by way of systems that will improve overall operation, effectiveness and support best in business internal and external service levels to make the credit union the best in business by any measure. Maintains current knowledge of regulations and trends to ensure effectiveness and compliance for area of responsibility. Reviews and provides approval of invoices within area of responsibility. Represent credit union at various community activities. Cross sell credit union products and services, as appropriate. Meet performance standards, goals and performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements Education/Certification:

4-year college degree plus 5+ years’ experience in the management of a financial institution and 5+ years strategic management; or a comparable combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred.

Knowledge:

Accounting and Finance and general economic conditions and competitors’ rates and terms etc. This position requires that the employee gain a working knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requirements and how they will affect their work. The employee will comply with all requirements of the BSA and cooperate with the designated BSA Officer in assuring compliance

Experience:

Experience using software including Microsoft Office 365 and lending systems, SQL, core banking platforms, and ALM/Budget software.
