Director, Financial and Investment Services 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars 302 Central Ave, Johnston, RI 02919 AIPSO is a management organization and service provider for various insurance industry groups responsible for administering the residual market. We are a national organization that serves local customer needs. Centralization and standardization are key to many AIPSO services because of the inherent economies of scale and other efficiencies. However, our organization is based on customer focus and recognizes the need for flexibility in serving customer groups with diverse interests.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Provide leadership and oversight for the planning, directing and coordination of all accounting, investment, banking, internal and external reporting, and operational activities. Develop and maintain the cost containment programs established at AIPSO. Establish budget procedures to effectively allocate expenses among the various residual market entities. Participate in strategic planning and align department objectives with holistic organizational strategy. Responsible for the Department’s strategic initiatives; that includes budgeting, performance tracking, and strategic planning to achieve the organization’s current and long-term goals. Establish and maintain effective financial controls over the assets, liabilities, income, and disbursements to safeguard all assets. Prepare AIPSO and Residual Market entities’ financial statements in accordance with the contracts for management and services. This includes the preparation of certain annual statutory financial statements. Direct and control the assessment collection process for AIPSO, AIP’s and alternative mechanisms. In accordance with the Corporate Bylaws, as delegated by the President/CEO, supervise and maintain custody of all funds and investments of AIPSO, AIPs, and residual market mechanisms managed by AIPSO. Coordinate and supervise the Accounts Payable function for AIPSO and the residual market entities. Establish and maintain appropriate controls on the laser printing of checks and signature plates. Lead the Purchasing function for the Home and Regional Offices. This role will be a strategic partner on the Senior Management Team and will serve as the successor to the Senior Director & Chief of Financial Operations, based upon effective performance.
Education :
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Accounting/Finance from an accredited college or university. CPA required.
Experience :
Ten or more years of accounting, financial, treasury and/or operational experience required. Accounting experience should include both GAAP and Statutory accounting with a minimum of two to four years in the insurance field. Management experience required.
Skills & Knowledge :
Use critical thinking skills and experience to develop strategic plans, analyze trends and opportunities. Exceptional leadership skills to influence management decisions and collaborate at all levels. Advanced knowledge of accounting principles for GAAP and statutory insurance (NAIC) accounting and the ability to independently determine course of action based on these principles and analyze financial information. Knowledge of treasury management concepts, practices, and procedures. Effective problem-solving skills, including ability to analyze complex issues, find the root cause of the problem, and consider a wide range of alternatives before acting. Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or individuals. Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility while maintaining attention to detail. Ability to work independently and interact professionally and effectively in a team environment.
Salary Range :
$167,000 – $266,800 Annual. : Actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; internal equity and other conditions of employment.
