The Controller will lead the university’s accounting operations and ensure the integrity of its financial reporting. As a key member of the Finance team, the Controller oversees core financial functions including general accounting, financial reporting, purchasing, accounts payable and receivable, credit card expenses, grants accounting, investments, endowments, banking relations, payroll, and compliance. The Controller develops, implements, and maintains effective internal controls, and accounting policies and procedures to safeguard university assets; oversees compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including IRS reporting, Form 990, and grant-related financial requirements. The Controller plays a pivotal role in audit preparation, policy development, and process improvement, working collaboratively across departments to enhance financial stewardship and accountability. Knowledge equivalent to that gained through a bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least three years of professional accounting experience in higher education is preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong leadership skills, with demonstrated experience in the supervision and management of personnel, are required. The ideal candidate will possess thorough knowledge of state and federal tax and grant laws and regulations, as well as financial analysis and generally accepted accounting principles, with experience in applying them to organizational operations. This is an on-site, in-person role.
