Job Description

Controller 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars 222 West Coleman Boulevard, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464 Cobb Hammett Law firm is seeking an experienced Controller to join our team onsite in Mount Pleasant, SC. As a key member of the team, the Controller will report directly to the top executives and will be responsible for providing oversight for all financial and accounting activities. Primary responsibilities include payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and supervising the accounting staff. The Controller will also help guide the Firm’s strategic financial decisions and is responsible for ensuring the company’s books are accurate.

Job Duties:
  • Managing cash flow: Planning, tracking, and controlling the movement of cash in and out of the business
  • Overseeing Positive Pay and wire verification process keeping updated on fraud protection
  • Overseeing financial statements: Ensuring the accuracy of balance sheets, invoices, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • Monitoring internal controls: Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Supervising client invoicing, collections and retainer replenish processes
  • Supervising A/P dept and managing vendor verification process
  • Securing and presenting corporate insurance quotes to partners for review and decisions (E&O)
  • Compiling financial reports for monthly presentation to Partners
  • Acting as audit liaison: Supporting the company’s audit process
  • Recommend benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance
  • Produces the annual budget and forecasts by coordinating with all departments
  • Actively implement processes and financial control systems and guide the team in updating and modernizing systems (ongoing)
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years similar experience, law firm preferred
  • Recent experience with Quick Books
  • Proficient in accounting software, law firm software preferred
  • Strong computer skills including Google Docs, Microsoft Excel, Word
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and manage tasks to meet deadlines and expectations with minimal supervision
  • Experience with managing a small team
  • Confident, professional demeanor and ability to maintain composure in a busy environment
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Accounting skills to include treasury, payroll, accounting, A/P, A/R and credit
