Accounting Operations Lead 3.4 3.4 out of 5 stars 408 Brighton Park Blvd Suite 106, Summerville, SC 29486 ArborGen is on the lookout for a dynamic Accounting Operations Lead to oversee the everyday operations of our general accounting functions, encompassing areas such as Corporate, Nursery and Orchard operations and Cost Accounting aspects across both. This role is pivotal in driving significant process improvements, including playing a key role in the development and implementation of a comprehensive ERP system, redesigning business processes, and leading various other enhancement initiatives. As a direct report to the Controller but working closely with the Director of Finance and CFO, this position will also offer critical strategic analytical support on both departmental and organization-wide projects. Additionally, this role will have direct oversight of the Accounts Receivable personnel of the organization and work with all the business specialists in collections from customers. This role will be a key part of the new cost accounting structure and analysis that will be the building blocks of the future. ArborGen is publicly traded in New Zealand and therefore is a complex organization requiring competencies and skillsets of someone who has worked globally across several countries, with experience in both US GAAP and IFRS. Additionally, this role will play a very active part in the cost accounting restructuring including analyzing standard costs versus average costing and the impact on the organization both long and short term. It is an exciting year of transition for ArborGen, and we need a dynamic driven individual to help lead this charge. It will be a challenging and fulfilling role for the selected candidate.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Partner on implementation and management of ERP system with Director of Finance
  • Directly responsible for the chart of accounts and maintenance of the overall ERP system from an accounting perspective.
  • Ensure appropriate internal control processes and procedures are developed and adhered to as we transition to the new ERP or redevelopment of current ERP.
  • Supervise Accounts Receivable personnel.
  • Work on monthly, interim and annual financial closing and consolidation including IFRS annual reporting
Education/Experience/Skills:
  • BS in accounting or finance and CPA designation required
  • Technical SQL reporting writing capabilities a plus
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and IFRS
  • 8+ years of progressive GL and Cost accounting experience.
  • SAP B1 and/or SAP S4/Hana
  • Strong computer skills with Excel essentials (pivot tables, vlookups).
  • Strong communication skills are a must.
  • ERP implementation experience required

    Department:

    Frequent interaction with subordinates in the immediate work group. Frequent interaction with CFO, CEO, Controller and Director of Finance

      Company:

      Regular interaction with all internal department supervisors and management including operations.

        Outside Company:

        Will interact with vendors, customers and auditors.

        Other Comments:

        This is an exempt position. Seasonal overtime required. Minimal overnight travel.
