Job Summary
Provide the vision, leadership and strategy to inspire your associates to deliver exceptional service and drive financial success. You have a strong financial management background and an obvious passion for hospitality. Enable innovation and drive results. You execute successful financial programs, artfully leverage training, build culture, drive profit to the bottom line with solid financial controls. Coordinate with the revenue and sales and marketing and operational teams to build sound fiscal controls and discipline within the hotel.
Essential Functions:
To effectively manage the rooms financial operations of the hotel in order that customer expectations are exceeded and that the hotel meets its financial and legal obligations as laid down in budgets and statute. To work within the values of Conrad Nashville & Northwood Hospitality. Work together (People), provide top quality service (Quality), be customer focused (Customer) and work productively without wasting resources (Profit).
This work will be undertaken in conjunction with the hotel leadership team, and all direct reports, and will entail monitoring the financial performance of the hotel and its departments and ensuring that standards of service, efficiency and maintained and controlled are as laid down in standards of performance manuals.
Play an active part in the management team of the hotel, through operational management, contribution at key meetings and training and development.
People, Quality, Profit, and Customer:
People:
In conjunction with Director of Human Resources, to recruit, select and induct new staff for the department and hotel having regard for current employment legislation and recognized working practices.
Build an efficient team and ensure continued improvement in staff morale and motivation through consultation, target setting and reviews. Describes, designs and delegates responsibility and authority for the operation of the various sub-departments under his supervision.
Implement corporate policies and procedures on compensation, incentive, bonus and benefits.
Ensure that team members are consulted to assist in problem solving and identification of improvements and are sufficiently empowered to work with minimal supervision
Develop, train and monitor the managers within the hotel to ensure succession planning for the future
Undergo training as directed by your manager and the demands of the business
Quality:
Develop and enhance the human resources department reputation of Conrad Nashville through internal service improvement and effective public relations.
Profit & Process:
Hotel General Cashier
Verify deposits of each cashier and document variances daily
Document due back and issue in a timely manner
Provide change to all cashiers during specified times
Make deposits to bank
Maintain adequate inventory of cashier supplies including drop envelops
Maintain MOD bank and replenish as necessary
House bank issuance and monthly audit
Communicate deposit information to corporate office daily
Accounts Receivable
Set up House Accounts and A/R Accounts as needed or directed by management
Ensure all Group and Direct Bill accounts are accurate and mailed within three business days
Make collection calls on outstanding accounts to ensure all amounts are collected within 60 days
Complete credit references for Direct Bill accounts requesting credit
Coordinate with Sales & Marketing / F&B / Banquets to ensure accuracy of accounts
Accounts Payable
Maintain high level of organization of filing
Ensure each invoice received has been properly routed to approving manager
Research vendor disputes / questions and statements regarding unpaid invoices
Ensure proper control measures are adhered in compliance with company standards
Participate in inventory processes to ensure accuracy and controls
General Accounting
Responsible for all end of month accounting including but not limited to the following:
AR summary,
Tax exempt report,
PTD / YTD Revenue,
Forecasting
Inventory accuracy, Cash sheet counts,
P/L variance report contribution,
Rebills,
Accruals
Customer:
Create and implement programs that enhance employee engagement, morale and team member satisfaction. Create and implement programs that enhance customer / guest satisfaction when interacting with finance department employees.
Positively deal with and learn from customer complaints and comments
Health, Safety, & Hygiene:
Be fully conversant with current Health, Safety & Hygiene legislation affecting hotel operations and ensure that the laid down requirements are met.
Ensure that all employees are periodically trained in all matters relating to health, hygiene and safety and their legal responsibilities.
Ensure that appropriate records are maintained in accordance with Company and legal requirements.
Other:
To carry out all other duties legally and reasonably requested of you by your manager which fall within the scope and purpose of this position
Contribution is made to the setting of departmental objectives in relation to the business strategy.
Contribution is made to management discussions to solve problems, identify improvements and make decisions
Oral and written communication is carried out in a manner, and at a level and pace, likely to promote understanding, effective performance and harmonious working relationships.

Skills:
Graduation from a well-known hotel school or demonstration of previous successful management of a quality hotel and restaurant operation.
Excellent verbal, comprehension, listening and problem-solving skills.
Several years of financial management experience.
Ability to deal with a diverse staff and to operate efficiently despite stressful time pressure.
Interpersonal and time management skills.
Adaptability
Formal Background:
BS or BA in hotel administration, management or accounting
Minimum Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 5 year’s financial management experience required preferably in the hospitality industry and minimum experience of 1 to 2 year in the same position at 4 Star or 5 Star Hotel. Experience with Hilton ONQ PMS and M3
A working knowledge of luxury hotel standards and management execution with an entrepreneurial spirit to create and mentor superior hotel talent is essential. In addition, a history with annual revenue and expense budgets is preferred.
