Full Job Description Position Summary:

The Vice President of Accounting will oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions related to our multi-family property portfolio. This leadership role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and reporting, ensuring regulatory compliance, budgeting, internal controls, audits, managing a team of accounting professionals, and strategic insights to senior leadership.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes for all properties.
  • Prepare and review timely and accurate financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the preparation and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with the operations team.
  • Collaborate with property managers, regional leaders, and executives to support operational and financial goals.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial information.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team; foster a high-performance culture with a focus on accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluation and implement accounting systems and technology solutions to improve efficiency and reporting capabilities.
  • Partner with Operations and Asset Management to deliver financial insights that drive business performance.
  • Oversee cash flow management, capital expenditure tracking, and reserve fund compliance.
  • Monitor property performance and financial KPIs; identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Create Pro Forma statements and forecasting activities for acquisitions
  • Reconcile Capital Reserve Accounts
  • Ensure that all lender reporting is in compliance on a monthly basis
  • Monitor the timing and quality of client deliverables
  • Process wire transfer payments on behalf of clients
  • Prepare financial statements and associated work product for external audit purposes
  • Address and resolve financial errors or issues with staff, as needed
  • Act as a liaison to client CPA firms, auditors, legal counsel, and other external parties to provide expertise of accounting practices within the multi-family industry
  • Special projects and additional duties as needed or assigned
Qualifications:
  • Licensed CPA
  • BA or BS in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimally 5-8 years accounting experience in Real Estate accounting
  • 3 years’ accounting experience in the multi-family industry
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures and maintain effective internal controls
  • Work as a team player in evaluating and resolving discrepancies, as needed
  • Possess and model our core values daily
Skills:
  • Expert in GAAP and best practices.
  • Strong computer skills related to MS Office programs, i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Experience with RealPage/One Site software is preferred
  • Possess an analytical and strategic mindset
  • Leadership skills to lead a team of professionals and inspire growth
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:

$170,000.00 – $180,000.00 per year
