Full Job Description SUMMARY:
The AVP, Finance is responsible for analyzing and forecasting cash needs to ensure adequate funding for credit union operations, managing correspondent accounts to maximize returns, and assisting the Chief Financial Officer with the investment portfolio. This role involves managing quarterly ALM analysis, utilizing financial performance software for forecasts and reports, performing fixed asset accounting and capital budget tracking, assisting with annual budget preparation and variance analysis, and developing profitability models. Additionally, the position includes maintaining records, posting transactions, preparing monthly reports for the Board of Directors, providing trade recommendations, and performing due diligence on investment partners.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Analyze and forecast cash needs of the credit union to ensure adequate funding is available for all credit union operations. Manage all correspondent accounts to maximize returns on daily liquid funds. Assist the Chief Financial Officer in managing the credit union’s investment portfolio, including maintaining records, posting all related transactions, preparing monthly reports for the Board of Directors, providing trade recommendations to enhance revenue while managing liquidity and interest rate risk, and performing due diligence on all investment partners used by the credit union. Manage the credit union’s quarterly Asset Liability Management (ALM) analysis by uploading data, reviewing and modifying inputs and assumptions, validating outcomes, and compiling quarterly reports for the Board of Directors. Utilize the credit union’s financial performance suite software to create financial forecasts, prepare dashboards and reports, and provide insights to support strategic decision-making within the credit union. Perform fixed asset accounting and capital budget tracking. Assist with the preparation of the credit union’s annual budget and analyze budget variances. Assist the Chief Financial Officer with the development, implementation, and maintenance of department/branch, product, and member profitability models. Back-up the AVP/Controller as needed with monthly GL reconcilements and financial report preparation.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Maintains conservative, yet reliable records prepared on a timely basis, that fully address all aspects of the credit union’s assets, liabilities, income, expense, and reserves. Ensures that the accounting process is maintained to conform to the requirements of the Federal Credit Union Act, State legislation as might be applicable, other Rules and Regulations and Financial Management Standards prescribed and/or recommended for the prudent financial management of the credit union.

EXPERIENCE
Accounting or Finance degree from a recognized university. At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar position at a financial institution. Equivalents in education and experience considered.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from members, regulatory agencies, or members of the community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. OTHER SKILLS and
ABILITIES
Familiarity with credit union accounting standards and credit union industry terminology. Must have a clear understanding of financial institution accounting. Understands all deadlines and does what is necessary to meet them. Excellent typing and computer skills, including email and core system. Strong leadership skills. Good attitude and professional, courteous personality conducive to dealing with staff and members. Excellent listening, oral and written communication skills. Accurate, detailed, self-starter who can exercise independent judgment when addressing problems. Excellent organizational skills, math skills, good reasoning ability and problem-solving skills.
