Director of Finance 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars Athens, TN 37303 IronCraft Job Description Job Title Director of Finance Department Finance – Accounting Reports to Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Position Summary The Director of Finance is a senior leader within the finance organization responsible for driving financial performance, operational efficiency, and organizational growth through effective cost accounting and robust financial planning and analysis (FP&A). Reporting to the CFO, Director of Finance plays a key role in supporting executive leadership with strategic financial insights, overseeing internal financial operations, and ensuring disciplined financial management across the business. This position requires strong leadership capabilities, a deep understanding of cost structures, and a proactive, business-partnering mindset. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy Act as a strategic thought partner to the CFO, providing insight and recommendations to support overall financial strategy. Lead, mentor, and develop finance and accounting team members; instill a culture of continuous improvement and high performance. Collaborate with business unit leaders and department heads to align financial goals with broader company objectives. Prepare and deliver financial analysis and reporting to the CFO and senior management team; support board-level presentations as needed. Cost Accounting Direct all aspects of cost accounting, including standard cost development, variance analysis, and inventory control. Improve cost tracking and reporting processes to ensure accurate, timely financial data that supports operational decisions. Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, and operations teams to identify and implement cost reduction initiatives. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes; ensure alignment with strategic business plans. Develop dynamic financial models and reporting tools to support scenario planning, capital investments, and strategic initiatives. Analyze business performance and key metrics; identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and communicate actionable insights to the CFO and leadership team. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred. 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior finance role. Proven experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong FP&A expertise, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, influence cross-functional partners, and drive organizational change. Exceptional analytical, communication, and presentation skills. Proficiency in ERP systems and financial software; advanced Excel skills required.
