Comparable to education & experience SUMMARY The Plant Controller will be responsible for all aspects of accounting and analysis related to our manufacturing operations. This includes developing and maintaining cost accounting systems, documenting and analyzing production costs, and making recommendations to improve cost efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and manufacturing cost accounting, with the ability to work closely and partner with plant management to support decision-making processes. This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer. . 1. Implement and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization. 2. Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs. 3. Provide detailed cost analysis and identify trends to assist in decision-making and cost reduction initiatives. 4. Work closely with the plant leadership to understand production challenges and opportunities, providing financial insights that drive business strategy. 5. Assist in month-end close of the general ledger related to production costs and inventory ensuring accuracy and timeliness. 6. Conduct inventory evaluations, including physical inventories, reconciliations, and analysis of variances. 7. Collaborate with the corporate finance team on budgeting and forecasting, focusing on the cost of goods sold and inventory levels. 8. Develop and review the systems and procedures necessary to control and report manufacturing costs accurately. 9. Support audits related to inventory and cost accounting and comply with internal controls and financial policies.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE 1.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CMA is a plus. 2. At least 3 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. 3. Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, practices, and standards. 4. Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, along with advanced Excel skills. Experience with Global Shop a plus. 5. Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and make sound recommendations. 6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization. 7. Detail-oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry and analysis. 8. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adhere to tight deadlines 9. Experience working in Lean and Six Sigma manufacturing environments a plus
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus
COMPUTER SKILLS
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, namely Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook. Working knowledge of current ERP system is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
