Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or related area, that includes at least three (3) years or more experience in a supervisory capacity. Special Conditions The department is especially interested in candidates with a CPA. No Positions Supervised Four (4) professional accounting positions Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Additional Position Information Benefits of Employment (Applies to full-time, non-police employees only) Job Duties Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for the planning, execution and delivery of the University’s financial reporting activities to all constituents. Responsible for ad hoc financial reports, surveys and interim reports, as well as any other special reporting needed. Recommends University policy changes relative to financial reporting and maintains the University chart of accounts. Duties & Responsibilities Oversees the budgeting and accounting for the University’s capital projects and associated debt. Ensures proper accounting and preparation of Unexpended Plant Funds, Renewal & Replacement Funds, Retirement of Indebtedness Funds and Investment in Plant Funds. Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for the overall preparation and management of the financial statements (annual and interim), including consolidating the five component units, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and governmental accounting standards (GASB) which includes the preparation of annual financial reports, the review of the notes, schedules, and final financial statements as directed by University Controller. Coordinates and directs the preparation of other schedules and closing entries. Maintains current reporting guidelines issued by the State and adheres to these guidelines in University reporting. Serves as a significant point of contact with the Tennessee State Audit department for the University’s annual audit. Duties & Responsibilities Assist the University Controller by providing appropriate and meaningful financial information, metrics and responses to the Board of trustees. Responsible for coordination and overseeing Annual Financial Close Process. Review and analyze actual financial results and budget variances and provide explanations of such variances. Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for various cost accounting reports such as the annual fringe benefit rate calculation, periodic Facilities and Administration rate calculations as well as university cost allocations to Auxiliary enterprises. Assists University Controller in the cash management process. Duties & Responsibilities Directs and reviews the monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts and Local Government Investment Pool (LGIP) accounts and executes wire transfers. Manage the stale dated check process and submission to the State. Oversees the University fixed assets and inventory controls and confirmations. Duties & Responsibilities Serves as financial liaison to various University partnerships, foundations, and special organizations. Provides review /special analysis of these entities.
