OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE
- The Controller assists with the oversight of all accounting functionsand financial planning working directly with the Accounting Manager,Director of Finance, and Senior Management teams.
- MAJOR
RESPONSIBILITIES
- •GENERAL
ACCOUNTING
:
- The ControllerAssist with the oversight of allaccounting functions led by the Accounting Manager.
Full understandingof the accounting functions of United Community Services, UnitedCounseling Service, United Childrens Services and United CommunityProperties and ability to review, analyze and verify the accuracy offinancial statements and documents. Monthly review and analysis offinancial statements including monitoring and auditing for accuracy andmaking recommendations to the Director of Finance for improvements,efficiency, and adherence to fiscal regulations. Assists with variousaudits including the yearly financial audit for all 4 corporations.
Oversee functions of the Accounting Manager in absence of thisposition.
- FISCAL
CONTROL AND BUDGET MANAGEMENT
- In cooperation with managerialstaff, the Controller assists the Director of Finance with preparationand supervision of agency budgets and financial reporting for UnitedCommunity Services, United Counseling Service, United Childrens Servicesand United Community Properties and helps develop objectives, policies,and program procedures for these activities.
Participates in planningfor program/cost center/agency as requested by the Director of Finance.
Helps monitor continuing activities of the program or cost centeradjusting as necessary, performing budget variance analysis to assurecost containment. Under the direction of the Director of Finance, helpsplan and develop financial resources. Provides reports for seniormanagement or Finance Committee of the Board. Oversee the functions ofthe Director of Finance in the absence of this position.
- MULTI-CORPORATE
OPERATIONS
- Helps formulate, revise, and maintainfinanc al policies and procedures for all 4 corporations to assureadherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, as well asadherence to Federal and State regulations.
Advises the Director ofFinance of actions and potential risks. Plans, participates in, andadvises the Director of Finance on special projects as requestedincluding presentations to the Finance Committee of the Board.
- SUPERVISION
- Directly supervises the A/R Coordinators (First, Third,and Medicaid) and Managed Care Coordinator and helps hire, train,develop and evaluate staff effectively including shared strategicplanning to increase innovations and ensure compliance. Completes anddocuments supervision as required by the agency.
- SPECIAL
PROJECTS
- Under the direction of the Director of Finance, theController reviews, participates in committees, plans, recommends to theDirector of Finance, and implements various projects ensuring fiscalintegrity between accounting and programming.
