Job Description Are you looking for your next opportunity? Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Underwriting Assistant, E&S Casualty. The position is located in our Miami office reporting into the AVP Underwriting Support Manager. Our seasoned U.S. Excess Casualty – E&S team applies significant expertise and creativity to complete placements. Leveraging our relationships with appointed wholesale brokers, we provide meaningful capacity, a consistent underwriting approach and timely coverage and claims responses. Our business, your impact, our opportunity: What you’ll be doing: Assists in the general underwriting process attains needed information and data and communicates with brokers as required in the underwriting process. Assists in the underwriting, rating, pricing, and quoting of “small business” with underwriter supervision. Confirms underwriting terms and conditions and determines appropriate endorsement, terms, and conditions for quote/binder/policy with the Underwriter’s approval. Completes formal rating and documentation of bound business as is customary for policy issuance Pre-screens/pre-qualifies submission with little guidance Compiles quotes for the underwriter to review. Reviews and quotes assigned renewals with little direction Reviews loss information What you’ll bring: 3+ years as either an Underwriting Assistant or Technical Assistant, preferably within the Excess Casualty E&S space Knowledge of the underwriting process and of casualty coverage and required forms/endorsements. Rating skills a plus Strong computer skills including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities Ability to demonstrate planning and organizational skills At Sompo, we recognize that the talent, skills, and commitment of our employees drive our success.
